REJUVENATE: How to clean your rose-colored glasses. Using your existing dining times, invest three short minutes reinvigorating and redirecting your thoughts and emotions toward a positive mindset. Use breakfast, lunch, and dinner to revive more than just your body. As a change-management consultant, I recommend using these times to restart the clock on measuring how successful you have been at maintaining a positive outlook on life. How well are you managing your ability to manage the big constant that is "change"? As members of the change-management team, you and I are required to invest time, energy, and effort into making ourselves better because of what happened... We are responsible for preparing for what's next. And please - make no mistake: as a member of the human race, you are, indeed, a member of the change-management team. Don't complain; get involved! But remember: when you are a change-agent, you WILL become frustrated. That's just part of the process! Accordingly, today, I dare you to invest a few thoughts into how you will rejuvenate yourself. Along the way, destroying bad habits, bad thoughts, and bad karma is not a bad idea. Likewise, having rose-colored glasses is actually a good thing. Just remember: windshields, thoughts, and even rose-colored glasses eventually need cleaning. These last 10 Dares are essentially a step-by-step guide to proactively clean your rose-colored glasses throughout the day and week. Start, maintain, and end your day with these 10 practical steps to Clean Your Glasses:
The name of one of my books (The Ideal) implies the lofty goal of achieving an “almost perfect” life. However, perfection does not exist. And the quest for The Ideal life is a continuous quest; it is not something we complete and subsequently cease all effort toward… it is a life-long dream. In fact, The Ideal life is an existence; a life; an alignment of your energies toward an acceptance and eventual understanding that the path of life is not smooth. It is meandering, unstable, and sometimes jagged, ragged, if not outright tattered and torn with discontent, disdain, and downright damning downpours of one disappointment after another. Yet, the time we share does not stop. The clock of our lives keeps ticking. What, then, are we to do? Rejuvenate. And we must do this often. Some people go to the spa to rejuvenate. Other people go to the beach. Some run; others walk. Some knit; others sew. Some shower; others bathe. Regardless of your chosen methodology… ensure you set aside real time to actually DO IT. All too often, we plan to do this or that… Someday, we will ___________ (fill in the blank). Why not start today? While feeding your body during the day's various meal times is also the perfect time to rejuvenate the mind and soul. Why not invest a mere 180 seconds and feed all three (mind, body, and soul) at the same time? How? Spend your mealtime not only ingesting energy, but also thinking about how blessed you are to have what you already have. Appreciate what you have, and it will appreciate in value. Drink in the power of gratefulness, and your life will soon be full of miracles. Re-inspire your SELF with a small pause for the cause: your cause for living. What is it? What is your purpose? If you know the answer, STOP, be confident, and rejuvenate your efforts toward your purpose by purposefully providing a small dose of daily energy back towards the miracle that is you! If you don’t yet know your purpose, please use this Dare as an invitation and opportunity to meditate on the discovery of such an important mission. If and when you invest the time to rejuvenate your SELF, your purpose will begin to magnify and manifest itself in a manner that just might surprise you. Best of all, the mere act of your focused rejuvenation will begin to prepare you for the next level in work, love, and life in general. Do it; I dare you! ********** Indeed… It’s all about YOU. But tell me: What’s your role in your soul, …your goal, and for whom the bell tolls? Today, I dare you: REJUVENATE your self. READ MORE: John H. Clark III is an optimistic realist.
